The University is pleased to offer a range of scholarships to students of high academic ability from Nigeria for September 2008 entry.

Nigeria 50% Undergraduate Scholarships 2008 There are two Nigeria 50% Undergraduate Scholarships available for Nigerian students starting their undergraduate degree studies in September 2008.The scholarships are worth 50% of your undergraduate course tuition fee per year. This will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.To be eligible for the Nigeria 50% Undergraduate Scholarships 2008, applicants must be a Nigerian national or permanently domiciled in Nigeria, apply for a study place by 4 April 2008 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2008. The Nigeria 50% Undergraduate Scholarships 2008 are awarded on the basis of academic merit. If you wish to be considered for one of these scholarships you need to apply. Eligible students will automatically be sent details of how to apply from January 2008 onwards.Applicants cannot apply for the scholarships before being offered a study place at Sheffield.
Postgraduate Scholarships eg MA, MSc
The University of Sheffield do not currently directly offer scholarships for postgraduate taught students from Nigeria. However there are a number of external organisations that offer scholarships and funding to international students who wish to study in the UK.

The University of Sheffield does not offer research studentships or funding specifically for Nigerian students. There are, however, studentships and funding for which students from Nigeria can apply:
New Route PhD
Tuition fee scholarships are available to students starting a New Route PhD programme in September 2008. The scholarship is a 25% tuition fee reduction per year for 4 years of the degree programme.
Applicants will be informed automatically if they have been awarded a scholarship. Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.

The Oxford Nigeria Scholarship in African Studies
For entry October 2007The African Studies Centre, University of Oxford, is offering an Oxford Nigeria Scholarship in African Studies for the academic year 2006-7. This scholarship is sponsored by Oxford and Cambridge society of Nigeria. The award is available only for study on the MSc in African Studies, and is open to citizens of Nigeria. In making the award, preference may be given to applicants who have obtained a first degree from an institution of higher education within Nigeria.Details of the MSc degree are outlined here and in the University postgraduate prospectus or can be obtained by email from african.studies@sant.ox.ac.uk.There is no separate application procedure for this Scholarship. All applicants for a place on the MSc in African Studies who are Nigerian citizens will be automatically considered for the award of the Oxford Nigerian Scholarship in African Studies. (See the University of Oxford website for details of applications procedures, or email graduate.admissions@admin.ox.ac.uk, or the African Studies administrator, african.studies@sant.ox.ac.uk).The scholarship is open only to Nigerian citizens. Applicants should have a good 2.1 or equivalent for their undergraduate degree, and show evidence of a capacity for independent research as well as excellent writing skills in English.The scholarship will cover university fees, college fees and a stipend. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply simultaneously for other scholarships and financial assistance. All applicants may also apply for the ORISHA scholarship (see the African Studies website for details). Those applying for a place on the MSc in African Studies and who are eligible to be considered for this Scholarship must ensure that their applications reach the University by 16 March 2007. Students may apply to any college admitting students for the MSc in African Studies: Jesus: Linacre; Mansfield; St. Antony's; St. Catherine's; St. Cross; St. Hugh's; St. Peter's; Trinity; Wolfson.
